Who will use the ClusterMap?
Community agencies that sponsor and promote Economic Development activity
use the ClusterMap. ClusterMaps help focus on existing entities in a community
and build on the clusters and sectors that already support the local
economy. A ClusterMap helps attract investment to a community that builds
the community's success.
What can the ClusterMap be used for by local ED agencies?
ED agencies can use the ClusterMap web site to promote industry clusters
in the community or the local business community as a whole.
How can the general public use the ClusterMap?
Browser searches for suppliers/participants in certain industries
will identify the site and help to locate suppliers, manufacturers,
those doing research, etc.. The calendar of events built into ClusterMap
helps everyone learn about sector specific events in the community.
The calendar can easily be maintained by the sponsoring organization
using easy to use Self-Change Tools.
Can the local community develop the web site themselves?
Yes, but it wouldn't be as cost effective. PwC and Abitat.ca
have developed the methodology and template for creating the web site.
Who maintains the web site after it is built, populated with data
and launched?
A combination of the local sponsor (who will gather updated database
info for initial site listings and new listings) and PwC/Abitat.ca (who will update the info on the site, provide ongoing
QA, etc.) will maintain the website.
How does the web site get updated periodically?
Local sponsor's staff will populate the web site database with new/updated
info and PwC/Abitat.ca will update the website and connect new listings to
the map.
Why would a local company want to be identified on the web site?
If a company is a significant contributor to an industry sector in
a community, the ClusterMap will be an additional tool to promote itself.
What other benefits will individual listed companies receive from
the ClusterMap?
Each company profiled on the ClusterMap will provide for a link to the
listed company's individual website, therefore allowing someone to
go directly to one's web site. Each listed company will automatically
be profiled as being part of an industry cluster.
